On Thursday, August 17th, CivicLex received a special proclamation from Mayor Linda Gorton, celebrating the 5 year anniversary of our work! Richard Young, our Executive Director, has built something absolutely special with CivicLex, and I feel so proud to be just a small part of an organization as genuinely transformative for Lexington as CivicLex has been. I get to work with people who I admire, who impress me, and who challenge me every single day: Kit Anderson, Megan Gulla, Jillian Riseman (She/Her), Haley Wartell, Noel Osborn, and Stephanie Mobley. I have no idea where I would be without their example in my life.

I’m really grateful to say that in my year+ of working in this space, everyone I’ve met in City Hall has been willing to work with us on myriad projects, and every one of them – from Councilmembers to the Mayor to LFUCG staff – works and leads with honesty, integrity, and compassion. They make our job much easier than it might be in other cities!
